About
our company

Founded by artist and curator Chris Harshfield, the Calyx Foundation for Contemporary Artists exists to support artists at critical stages of their careers. Calyx operates with an artist first philosophy rooted in transparency, integrity, and long term thinking.

We provide direct financial support and curated exhibition opportunities designed to help artists sustain meaningful practices outside commercial pressure. Calyx does not charge application fees, does not operate pay to play programs, and does not take ownership or control of an artist’s work.

The name Calyx comes from the protective outer layer of a flower during early growth. It reflects our role: to support artists with care and professionalism while they build lasting practices.
